Movement

Illustrate movement within your daily life. Consider the following: How does this make you feel? Overwhelmed… or at peace? How is movement present within nature or your daily life?

Rules & Guidelines

Art Submission Rules

  1. To be eligible for participation, you must be 12-18 years old at the time of submission.
  2. By entering this competition, you consent to the usage of your art for research/analysis purposes regarding societal/mental patterns of self-expression.
  3. Only paper and pencil submissions will be considered; no other media will be accepted, including but not limited to colored pencils, paints, and pens. Supplies and materials will be funded by us and provided by the school.
  4. Only original submissions are allowed; plagiarism or use of AI will not be tolerated.
  5. Drawings must address all aspects of the prompt; submissions that show little to no connection with the prompt or are not school-appropriate will not be judged.
  6. A writing supplement is required to be considered for judging.
  7. All sections in the submission process must be completed, unless stated otherwise.
  8. Only one submission is allowed per artist.
  9. Upon entering your information on the website, you will be provided a number. You must write this number visibly upon the back of your paper, alongside your name, the date, and your grade level.
  10. Artworks must be scanned (both sides of the paper must be scanned) and uploaded to the website alongside other information.
  11. Artwork will also be mailed to the judges by the school, where it will be promptly returned after the judging period and the winners are announced.
  12. There will be a separate competition for middle school students and high school students.

Writing Submission Rules

  1. A writing supplement is required for every art submission; any submission without a writing supplement will not be considered.
  2. The writing supplement must not exceed 250 words.
  3. The use of AI or plagiarism will not be tolerated.
  4. The writing supplement may be written in Hindi or English, whichever language you feel most comfortable in. There is no preference or disadvantage for either language.
  5. The writing supplement must be written on the back of the paper that is provided and must answer all questions asked.

Judging Process

  1. Artwork will undergo a first round of review by the founders to ensure all artwork and writing is aligned with the prompt and appropriate.
  2. Within this first round, all artwork will be viewed through the scanned copies that are provided.
  3. Any works/writings that we feel do not align with the prompt or are not appropriate will not proceed to the next round of judging and will be disqualified.
  4. By entering this competition, you consent to the usage of your art for research/analysis purposes regarding societal/mental patterns of self-expression. Your name will not be recorded.
  5. Artwork will then proceed to another round of judging by a judge panel consisting of two (maybe three) artists.
  6. Each judge will assign you a score based on the rubric that is provided.
  7. The scores will then be totaled. Any ties in scores within the top position will ultimately be decided by the founders with input from the judges.
  8. Total scores will be used to determine the first, second, and third prize winners. Any other artwork that judges found exemplary, unique or creative in a distinctive manner may be granted an Honorable Mention.
  9. Winners will be posted on the website, and promptly contacted for more information regarding prize money, certificates and other opportunities.

Judging Rubric

Criteria Points Description
Adherence to the Prompt 5 Responses must incorporate the themes of the prompt. Any submissions that do not adhere to the prompt will be eliminated.
Originality 5 Student illustrates their experience originally, showing little to no outside influence or reused ideas.
Self-Expression 10 Student utilizes unique and distinct methods to express themselves within aspects of their piece.
Use of Skills 5 Student effectively demonstrates utilization of art skills, elements (line, shape, form, space, texture, value, and colors), and effort in their drawings.
Writing 5 The student's writing supplement explains their artwork and aspects of their distinct expression within their piece.
